Medical Alert Center (MAC)
The Medical Alert Center (MAC) is the 24/7 coordination and communication center for the Los Angeles County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Agency. MAC assists with all facets of EMS prehospital coordination, including Field Providers (ambulance companies and fire departments), 9-1-1 Receiving Hospital providers, Air Ambulance providers, Baywatch, Law Enforcement, and more. The MAC along with the Department of Health Services (DHS) Utilization Management (UM), and Central Dispatch Office (CDO) make up the DHS Transfer Center to coordinate patient transfer on behalf of the DHS healthcare system, including 4 hospital medical centers and 26 outpatient care sites. The MAC also serves as the Operations Branch of the DHS Medical and Health Coordination Center to coordinate disaster responses for the County and other counties within Region I.
