Optometry

The Optometry Clinic at Rancho Los Amigos is a specialty clinic that diagnoses, treats, and manages a wide range of visual and ocular health conditions. We are located on the 1st floor of the Outpatient Building. 

By utilizing the latest technology, including optical coherence tomography (OCT), Humphrey Field Analyzer (HFA) and retinal fundus photography, we can diagnose and manage many visual and ocular health conditions, including the following common conditions: 

  • myopia (nearsightedness) 
  • hyperopia (farsightedness) 
  • presbyopia (difficulty with focusing on near objects) 
  • astigmatism 
  • dry eyes 
  • blepharitis (inflammation of lids and lashes) 
  • hordeolum (stye) 
  • pinguecula/pterygiumconjunctivitis  
  • ocular allergies  
  • cataracts 
  • diabetic retinopathy 
  • glaucoma 
  • macular degeneration 
  • floaters and flashes

The Ophthalmology Clinic is made up of a team of dedicated healthcare professionals who are passionate about caring for your vision and eye health, and we help you manage their impact on your quality of life.  We look forward to meeting you!

To request an appointment, please discuss your visual and eye health concerns with your primary care provider. Your provider can refer you to the Optometry Clinic as needed. 

If you need help with more complex eye care needs, we can connect you with our partners at the Department of Ophthalmology and Eye Care Services throughout LA County’s Department of Health Services (DHS).

Medical Imaging and Nuclear Medicine

The Department of Medical Imaging provides all of the diagnostic imaging service needs for both inpatients and outpatients at Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center. 

The types of services we provide include: MRI, CT scans, nuclear medicine, ultrasounds, bone density studies, and general radiology.  If you need a mammogram, we will connect you to one of our sister facilities within LA County’s Health Services. 

For your Medical Imaging needs, your provider may refer you directly to us. If you need to schedule an appointment, or if you have questions about the services we provide, please contact Medical Imaging at (562) 385-7111.

Cardiology 150 150 Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center

Cardiology

The Cardiology Division at Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center provides a wide variety of inpatient and outpatient services.

Board-certified adult cardiologists provide inpatient consultative services for patients admitted to our intensive care unit, telemetry unit, and rehabilitation units.  They perform invasive procedures such as transesophageal echocardiography and surgically implant cardiac devices, including pacemakers, defibrillators, and loop recorders. 

Cardiologists and cardiac nurse practitioner run a busy outpatient clinic and care for patients with an array of cardiovascular conditions, such as coronary artery disease, valvular and congenital heart diseases, congestive heart failure, arrhythmias, and cardiac involvement associated with neuromuscular dystrophies.

The Cardiac Diagnostic Suite performs non-invasive cardiology tests including electrocardiograms, transthoracic echocardiograms, treadmill stress testing, and nuclear myocardial perfusion imaging.

The Cardiology Division, along with physical therapy, occupational therapy, psychology, and nursing education, provide multidisciplinary Cardiac Rehabilitation Programs to improve outcome and quality of life for our cardiac patients.

Outpatient Services

Primary Care Medical Homes

Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center provides Primary Care services through Patient-Centered Medical Homes.

The Patient-Centered Medical Home, or PCMH, is a team-based approach to providing Primary Care, involving a highly collaborative group of nurses, doctors, and other specialists who work together to meet the needs of their patients. Drawing upon our rich history and our expertise in Rehabilitation Medicine, several Patient-Centered Medical Homes are designed to cater specifically to persons with unique care needs.

Specialty Clinics

Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center offers many Specialty Services all in one convenient location.

Each of our medical home clinics is connected to a wide array of Specialty Clinics, from Dental Services to Diabetes Care, Orthopedics to Ophthalmology. There is rarely a need to travel to a different facility or location for the Specialty Service that meets your unique needs. Your primary care provider can determine if you would benefit from consultation with one of our specialists and make a referral if needed.

Rehabilitation Therapies

At Rancho Los Amigos, Rehabilitation does not end when a patient returns home.

Outpatient Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy and Speech Therapy offer a full range of traditional Outpatient Therapy Services via in-person and telehealth visits to meet a variety of patient needs.  Specialty programs include Driver Rehabilitation and Training, Work Rehabilitation, Lifestyle Redesign, Seating Center, the Center for Applied Rehabilitation Technology (CART), Balance and Vestibular, Musculoskeletal and Orthopedic Physical Therapy, and Pelvic Floor Dysfunction/Incontinence. These specialty services offer additional expertise to assist individuals in successfully transitioning home and reintegrating into the community. Health Services (HS) patients as well as community patients are welcome. A physician’s referral to Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, or Speech Therapy is required. HS patients may obtain a referral by requesting one from their primary care provider. Once the referral is received you will be contacted to schedule an appointment. Community patients may contact the Outpatient Referral Office at (562) 385-6536 to begin the referral process.
