Registrations is now open for the 9th annual Los Angeles County Health Services Diabetes Day event. This event is presented by the DHS Endocrinology Specialty Care Workgroup and will run on December 5, 2022 from 8:00 AM – 4:25PM. Further details are below.  The Program will be both live at The California Endowment. Seating will be limited, so reserve a spot now.

Target Audience
PMDs, nurse providers, physician assistants, specialists, care managers, medical directors, nurses, dietitians, social workers.  Anyone in LA County, including DHS and Community Partners, who takes care of patients with diabetes or wants to improve the care of patients with diabetes – You don’t want to miss this event!

There will be sessions on nutrition, diet and diabetes, diabetes treatment, expected practices and case-based learning, and diabetes care and knowledge. There will be continuing education credits available. The keynote speech with be about how weight loss fits in with diabetes control by Juan Frias, MD. Other world-renowned diabetes experts will be speaking including David Ludwig MD, Rajesh Garg, MD and Anne Peters, MD.

Upon completion of this session, participants will be able to:

1. Describe the magnitude of the diabetes epidemic in Los Angeles County DHS.
2. Apply the key points of the LAC DHS’ diabetes Expected Practice (practice guidelines).
3. Explain how to optimize diabetes care delivery to patients with low income.
4. Discuss how to engage patients with diabetes to self-manage their disease.
