Patient Advisory Committee 1024 683 My Health LA

In late 2021, we started a My Health LA Community Council, made up of MHLA staff, participants and family members. We had some successful meetings and received valuable input for the 50+ transition/older adult transition from MHLA to Medi-Cal.

Several of the members are no longer in MHLA so we are still recruiting new council members. The committee is providing important input on the sunsetting process. We are hoping you can help us with recruitment. That could mean something as simple as having enrollers mention it to MHLA participants when they renew their applications, putting the hard copy of the flyer (please see below) in the clinics, sending it out via text, uploading it on your website or sharing in any other way that would help.

We are looking for individuals who would be willing to share their thoughts and experiences. The vision of the MHLA Community Council is “to collaborate with our participants and their families to improve their experience and the quality of the MHLA program.”  The council functions much like a hospital or clinic patient advisory council and has regular meetings facilitated in English and Spanish. The meetings are held virtually (phone or video).

Council Members are also helping with the sunsetting of the MHLA Program by providing feedback to DHS on the process and experiences from the patient perspective.

The goals are:

  • Experience: To improve MHLA participant experience – timely access to care, efficient enrollment process, positive interactions with MHLA, DHS and CP staff.
  • Communication: To ensure MHLA participants are aware of all parts of MHLA.
  • Direct Engagement: To engage with MHLA participants to receive feedback on the MHLA program.

As an added incentive, each participant will receive a $25.00 Target Gift Card for each meeting attended as a token of our appreciation for their effort and time.

Please see the below flyers in English and Spanish for more information and interested participants can call Lia Romero at (626) 525-5219, or they can email myhealthla@dhs.lacounty.gov.
