MHLA Community Partner Connection Newsletter
Community Partners,
I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy. Over the past several months, the LA County Department of Health Services has embarked on equity and inclusion efforts. The Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Antiracism Initiative aims to change practices and policies that have contributed to patient care and workforce inequities. The Department is committed to doing everything possible to reduce race and identity-based disparities in health care. We will be conducting stakeholder outreach in the strategic planning process over the next several months to bring together diverse perspectives and experiences of community members, clinics and organizations. We may reach out to some of you and we hope you will help us build an equitable healthcare system.
In My Health LA, we are planning for the transition of the My Health LA participants aged 50 and over to full-scope Medi-Cal. We are talking to advocacy organizations, CCALAC, enrollment entities and the Supervisors’ offices about the best ways to work together to support outreach and education about the Medi-Cal expansion. The MHLA program is also determining how the expansion will impact participants and the program as a whole. We will be in touch soon, but the top priority right now is enrolling as many MHLA participants as possible in restricted scope Medi-Cal. We want to make sure our participants do not have any gap in coverage following the transition.
Thank you very much. — Anna Gorman, Director of Community Partnerships
