On August 1st, 2022, DHS implemented new logic in the eConsult system to prevent any MHLA participant aged 50 and older from being referred to DHS for specialty care. This coincided with the end of the three-month window (May 1st to July 31st) to get all 60,000 MHLA program participants aged 50+ enrolled in Medi-Cal before being disenrolled from My Health LA.

We know that urgent care is not an efficient or patient-friendly way to connect this population to DHS specialty care services.

We are planning to change the logic in late November to allow non-Medi-Cal eligible 50+ individuals to be referred to DHS for specialty care services. The new logic will “go live” sometime in mid to late November 2022. Details on how this will look and how to use it (via Job Aides within the eConsult platform and a Provider Bulletin) will be shared by the MHLA program office as soon as they are available.
