My Health LA recognizes that substance use disorders have become more common in Los Angeles over the last couple months. MHLA resources on substance use disorder can be found here on the website. With the stressors of life in the modern age many of us often turn to substances such as alcohol and other drugs for some relief, often leading to some form of substance abuse. However, it is never too late to seek out help with substance abuse.

As a reminder, MHLA participants can receive substance abuse disorder services for free through  LA County’s Department of Public Health Substance Abuse Prevention and Control (SAPC). SAPC is a program centered on the prevention and treatment of substance use disorders by connecting patients to a network of providers and treatment centers. SAPC provides substance use disorder treatment services to MHLA participants for free, and offers outpatient, residential, detox, case management and other services. MHLA participants may also receive counseling or medication to help if they are addicted to opioids. A free hotline is also available to call at 1 (844) 804-7500 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

In addition, SAPC provides a wide array of information for patients, providers, and the public. MHLA CPs and partner clinics are welcome to refer MHLA participants to SAPC for further services and information.
