Employee Relations
Employee Relations staff provide technical advice on grievances, provide HR staffing to all local Labor/Management Committees and Meet and Consults/Confers, conducts Appraisal of Promotability appeal meetings, investigates employee complaints, negotiates stipulated settlement agreements for mediations, represents the Department at mediations of grievances with Local 721 and provides assistance to counsel in preparation for arbitrations which includes gathering evidence, identifying witnesses, researching policies, MOU provisions, and education of counsel on County policies and procedures.
Employee Relations staff also meet with applicable unions on contracting items scheduled for the Board of Supervisors’ agenda and on Health Services-wide policies and procedures. Employee Relations staff coordinated collective bargaining activities for Health Services, and reports on work actions to the CAO and executive management.
