Welcome to the Department of Radiology at Los Angeles General Medical Center (LA General). As one of the largest public hospitals in the United States and Los Angeles County’s flagship health care facility, we are uniquely positioned at the forefront of medical imaging and patient care in Southern California. As a Level 1 trauma center and a critical provider for one of the nation’s most diverse populations, our role involves encountering and managing a remarkable spectrum of diseases, ranging from the most common to the most complex.
Our board-certified radiologists, skilled technologists, and dedicated staff work together to deliver timely, accurate results with empathy and expertise. We utilize state-of-the-art technology and innovative approaches to ensure patient safety and comfort, providing comprehensive imaging services that are essential for delivering outstanding healthcare.

Radiology at LA General encompasses two vital and complementary divisions:
- Diagnostic Radiology, which uses advanced imaging techniques such as X-ray, CT, MRI, ultrasound, and mammography to detect, characterize, and monitor disease
- Interventional Radiology, which provides minimally invasive, image-guided procedures for diagnosis and treatment, often offers patients safe and effective alternatives to surgery.
Together, these disciplines enable us not only to detect disease but also to intervene, heal, and enhance quality of life.
Our mission:
- To deliver outstanding, patient-centered imaging and interventional services
- To educate and mentor future leaders in radiology through world-class training programs
- To advance the field by fostering innovation and pioneering research
