A child is killed or injured by gun violence in Los Angeles County every 30 hours. In 2022, there were more than 300 gun-related suicides in the county.
Gun locks can save lives, especially in homes with children. People are more likely to use gun locks if they are given to them by their doctor or in a medical center. That is why the Department of Public Health is giving away 60,000 free cable gun locks to the public, no questions asked. They will be available in six LA Health Services locations.
