Cervical Cancer can be serious, but it is also one of the easiest to prevent.
Cervical cancer starts in the lower part of the uterus, called the cervix. It can spread to other parts of the body. It can also make it hard to get pregnant, cause pain, and even lead to death.
Most cervical cancer is caused by a virus called HPV (human papillomavirus). It is very common and spreads through sex. Smoking also makes cervical cancer more likely.
Protect Yourself
- Get Screened: Regular screenings can help find problems early, when they are easier to treat. Most people should start cervical cancer screenings at age 21.
- Don’t Smoke: Quitting smoking or never starting lowers your risk of cervical cancer.
Call your doctor’s office to make an appointment for a cervical cancer screening and to get the HPV vaccine. Click here for more information.
