Congratulations to the Pharmacists at the East LA Health Center Group for being recognized as Tuberculosis (TB) Elimination Heroes by the California TB Controller Association!

The American Lung Association has information and resources on TB, including how it is transmitted and treatment uptions.

At the East LA Health Center Group, primary care doctors collaborate with pharmacists to help eliminate and prevent the spread the tuberculosis.

Patients with Latent TB Infection (LTBI) are identified by primary care providers and referred to the pharmacist clinic to initiate, evaluate, and adjust therapy, as well as ensure completion of treatment. Referral to the pharmacists allows for more frequent, reliable follow-up and ensures documentation is standardized in accordance with the LA County Department of Public Health standards.

This team-based approach not only improves care for our patients but also helps to control TB disease county-wide!
