While Rancho is renowned for its clinical research and patient care, it is also recognized for the many programs designed to assist patients and their loved ones. The programs provide a wide range of services:

Adaptive Outdoor Adventure: Following a life-changing injury, many patients believe they will be unable to participate in some of their favorite sports, such as surfing or rock climbing. The Adaptive Outdoor Adventure program provides persons with disabilities opportunities to enjoy these activities again with the use of specialized equipment.

Art of Rancho: The Art of Rancho program gives patients opportunities to be trained by world-renowned artists in adaptive drawing, painting, and photography. The artists are former patients of Rancho and use adaptive techniques in their works. Rancho also has the Don Knabe Pediatric Arts Program, a program designed for young artists.

H.O.M.E.: Housing of Medical Emergencies (H.O.M.E.) is a ten-unit housing complex, providing housing for loved ones of patients being treated at Rancho. H.O.M.E. is a collaborative effort between Rancho and the Assistance League of Downey.

KnowBarriers: From life coaching to substance abuse recovery, KnowBarriers provides persons with disabilities a safe, peer-driven program to develop confidence and new life skills. KnowBarriers is one of the largest peer mentoring rehabilitation programs of its kind.

Language and Culture Resource Center: Rancho is dedicated to meeting the needs of each patient. The Language and Culture Resource Center ensures patients receive culturally sensitive healthcare through the use of interpreters, community organizations, and diversity training for staff.

The Rancho Los Amigos Foundation:

The Rancho Los Amigos Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) charitable organization established in 1983 to raise funds for programs, services and equipment for Rancho patients and their families.  It is the mission of the Foundation to help pediatric and adult patients, whose lives have been forever changed through disabling injuries or illnesses, experience the Restoration of Health, the Rebuilding of Lives, and the Revitalization of Hope.  Click here to learn more about making a contribution or getting involved!
