Harbor-UCLA Medical Center celebrated the groundbreaking for the new Clinic Building that will be going up to the west of the hospital. As we commemorated the start of construction, several of our patients were on hand to help us break ground on our future Clinic Building. The Clinic Building will be a total of six floors, with the first three floors housing all of Harbor’s outpatient clinics and associated services. The fourth floor will be a conferencing and education space, and the top two floors will house physician and administrative offices.

The design of the clinic areas has been thoughtfully laid out by our Clinic User Group, with our patients in mind and to maximize patient access and flow. The first floor will contain services that might be a quick in and out, such as picking up a prescription, having labs drawn, or getting an x-ray or other radiologic study. The Orthopaedic Clinic and the Outpatient Rehabilitation programs will also be located on the first floor to provide ease of access to patients who may have mobility challenges. The second floor will contain the specialty care clinics, which are designed and laid out to maximize collaboration among the patients’ clinical teams. For example, Oncology and Surgical Oncology will be co-sited and will be adjacent to a modern infusion center for cancer patients. Finally, the third floor will house Harbor-UCLA Medical Center’s primary care medical homes to facilitate longitudinal primary care for patients from pregnancy to childhood and through adulthood in a team care setting.
