Welcome to the Department of Anesthesiology

Our hospital is a County facility affiliated with UCLA. We have a devoted faculty committed to providing the best possible care for our patients together with the finest teaching for our trainees.

We have a four-year categorical residency program consisting of 36 Anesthesiology residents (9 PGY-1s, 9, PGY-2s, 9 PGY-3s, and 8 PGY-4s). The hands-on experience for our residents is second to none while our didactic academic program provides a solid foundation for the board examinations and beyond.

These are exciting times for the Anesthesiology Department at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. We have moved into a new building housing 16 new operating rooms with all the latest amenities and equipment. The hospital, along with the Department of Health Services implemented a new electronic medical record system on November 1st 2014 and it has had positive outcomes.

I encourage you to take a good look at Harbor-UCLA if you are considering training in anesthesiology.

Composed of 19 Anesthesiology attendings, 36 Anesthesiology resident physicians, 1 Regional and Acute Pain Management Anesthesiology fellow, 1 Trauma Anesthesiology fellow, and 13 CRNA’s, the department is dedicated to providing a wide range of clinical anesthesia services in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

The educational programs at Harbor-UCLA exposes our residents, faculty and community physicians to both traditional knowledge as well as fostering scientific and critical thinking and implementing evidence based practices…

Anesthesia Research Harbor-UCLA Medical Center and The Lundquist Institute (formerly Los Angeles Biomedical Research Institute, or LA BioMed) at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center are among the country’s premier nonprofit research and training institutions. As part of this rich tradition, the areas of research interest in the department of Anesthesiology encompass both basic science and clinical anesthesia research.
