Temple Street, Los Angeles, CA <span class=\"TextRun Highlight SCXW203903968 BCX8\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"none\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW203903968 BCX8\">90012. <\/span><\/span>Nonetheless, the amount reflected on the property tax bill must be paid in full by the dates indicated on the bill to avoid interest and penalties.<\/p>\r\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div id=\"qaef-468\" class=\"qe-faq-toggle tebra\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"qe-toggle-title\">\n\t\t\t\t<h4>\n\t\t\t\t\t<i class=\"fa fa-minus-circle\"><\/i> How was the square footage of the structures on my property determined?\t\t\t\t<\/h4>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"qe-toggle-content\">\n\t\t\t\t\r\n<p>It was obtained from the property records of the County Assessor&#8217;s Office. The Assessor calculates the square footage based on the exterior dimensions, rounded to the nearest <span class=\"TextRun Highlight SCXW65017898 BCX8\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"none\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW65017898 BCX8\">square<\/span><\/span> foot. The square footage used for the current tax year is available by looking up your property on the Los Angeles County Assessor&#8217;s website.<\/p>\r\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div id=\"qaef-467\" class=\"qe-faq-toggle tebra\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"qe-toggle-title\">\n\t\t\t\t<h4>\n\t\t\t\t\t<i class=\"fa fa-minus-circle\"><\/i> Will the amount of the assessment always be the same?\t\t\t\t<\/h4>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"qe-toggle-content\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]Not necessarily, future increases or decreases in the square footage or the tax rate could increase or decrease the amount. The County Board of Supervisors may, by majority vote, increase or decrease the tax rate. Increases to the tax rate are limited to the cumulative increases, if any, in the medical component of the Western Urban Consumer Price index (CPI). For example, for a 1,500-square-foot house, 1,500 would be multiplied by $0.0630 resulting in an assessment of $94.50. In addition, these funds help support violence prevention and trauma projects, and reimburse non-County physicians who provide medical care to uninsured patients at ER and trauma enters.<\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div id=\"qaef-458\" class=\"qe-faq-toggle tebra\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"qe-toggle-title\">\n\t\t\t\t<h4>\n\t\t\t\t\t<i class=\"fa fa-minus-circle\"><\/i> Who authorized this assessment on my property tax bill?\t\t\t\t<\/h4>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"qe-toggle-content\">\n\t\t\t\t\n<p>The direct assessment is a special tax that the voters of Los Angeles County approved on November 5, 2002, by a 73% to 27% margin, beginning in fiscal year 2003-2004.
