Congratulations to Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center for being named by Newsweek as one of America’s best Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Centers, ranking #2 in California for 2021! Rancho also holds the distinction of being the only public hospital among the top 20 rehabilitation hospitals ranked in California.

The high ranking is based on Rancho’s excellent reputation in the rehabilitation community, high quality of care, its designation as a Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), and it’s standing as a Spinal Cord Injury Model System Center—one of only 14 centers in the country with this designation.

Rancho is a unique organization that is termed a “special place” by its many loyal dedicated physicians and staff, as well as the patients and families it serves. The 158-bed hospital located in Downey, CA is essentially two hospitals in one: first a 75 bed rehabilitation hospital dedicated to the rehabilitation of patients with conditions such as stroke, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, limb loss and multiple trauma; second an 83 bed acute care hospital dedicated to meeting the acute medical and surgical needs of individuals with disabilities and chronic conditions.

Just as in the 1940’s when Rancho was an innovator and leader in managing patients during the polio epidemic, today the organization has been vital during the COVID-19 pandemic, decompressing hospitals within the Department of Health Services and rehabilitating patients recovering from COVID-19.
