Who We Are
Arun Patel JD, MD, Director of Quality, Patient Safety and Risk Management. Dr. Patel oversees clinical quality improvement efforts, development of system quality initiatives, collection of safety related data, incident reporting to federal and state agencies, and response to claims and liability matters, across Health Services Patel came to Health Services from Washington, DC, where he was a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Health Policy Fellow, and served on the staff of the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Energy and Commerce and in the Office of the Secretary of Health and Human Services. Prior to the fellowship, Patel spent seven years as an attorney serving health care clients in the areas of physician contracting, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, acquisitions and financing, and strategic decision making. From 2010 to 2013, he served on the Board of a San Francisco-based foundation funding health improvement. During law school, he worked on public health law issues for the Health Officer of the Alameda County Department of Public Health. Dr. Patel earned a Bachelor’s degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a medical degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine at Jackson, a Juris Doctor Degree from Stanford University, and a Master of Bioethics from the University of Pennsylvania. He began his medical career at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where he worked in the neonatal intensive care unit after completing his training in general pediatrics.
