The ODR Housing program is a permanent supportive housing program serving individuals who are homeless, who have a serious mental health disorder, and who are incarcerated in the Los Angeles County Jail. Created in 2015, the program is offered to individuals who are charged with felony offenses through a partnership with the Los Angeles County Superior Court. The program works to resolve cases early and bring clients out of jail and into ODR Housing with either a grant of diversion or a grant of probation. The intervention consists of three components: (1) pre-release jail in-reach services; (2) enhanced treatment efforts that includes immediate initiation of medications); and (3) immediate interim housing upon release from jail in anticipation of permanent supportive housing. Clients in the ODR Housing program are assigned an Intensive Case Management Services provider who works with them as they transition from custody to the community. The case managers help clients access medical, mental health, and other supportive services. Clients are offered housing and appropriate treatment for as long as they need it.
