MHLA Community Partner Connection Newsletter

Community Partners,

It’s flu season and we wanted to share a flyer produced by the DHS marketing team that might be helpful as you promote the flu shot this season. You can find the flyer here in Spanish and here in English .  I got my flu shot this weekend and I hope you all have as well.

The My Health LA incentive project is underway. All the CPs received information with details on Oct. 1, with the amount of money your agency could receive as well as how the project will work. As a reminder, the goal is to bring MHLA participants back to care in person. We are working on a FAQ, so please send in any questions you have.

Last month, I mentioned in this newsletter that we were sending out a survey about how CPs are referring to – or providing – SUD services to MHLA participants. Thank you to 44 agencies that responded. The good news is the majority of CPs are referring participants for SUD services. Unfortunately, many did not know how to do referrals through the LA County Department of Public Health Substance Abuse Prevention and Control. You can refer to them through the helpline at 1-844-804-7500 or by visiting http://ph.lacounty.gov/sapc. We may be reaching out for follow-up information from some of you.

Finally, we are starting to form a “MHLA Community Council” made up of MHLA staff, participants and family members. The vision is “to collaborate with our participants and their families to improve their experience and the quality of the MHLA program.” We look forward to working with the CPs to help recruit for the council, to partner with us on this exciting initiative and to help guide us on the best strategies for community councils. The three areas that we hope to address are:

  • Experience: To improve participant experience – timely access to care, efficient enrollment process, positive interactions with MHLA, DHS and CP staff.
  • Communication: To ensure MHLA participants are aware of all parts of MHLA.
  • Direct Engagement: To engage with MHLA participants to receive feedback on the MHLA program.

Thank you as always for all that you do!
