MHLA Community Partner Connection Newsletter

Community Partners,

We join you in celebrating Black History Month, which is a great opportunity to acknowledge and lift up our African American colleagues, leaders and patients. It is also a chance to remember and commemorate those who have lost our lives to violence and to preventable illnesses, in our local communities and beyond. We join you in both celebration and reflection as a society to end anti-Black racism and inequities in health care.

This month, we are delving into the plan for the next year when MHLA will sunset. We will be amending the contracts this spring to change the end date for the program and to set a deadline for adding new sites and new pharmacies. We also have auto-extended everyone on MHLA in February, so they will stay in the program through January 31, 2023. Your staff will no longer have to do renewals and can instead focus on getting more MHLA participants into restricted Medi-Cal. We will be holding a webinar later in the spring to share information about the plans for the 2024 transition.

Please reach out to your program advocates with program questions and to the SME line with eligibility questions. Thank you for everything!   — Anna Gorman
