MHLA Community Partner Connection Newsletter

Community Partners,

Good news! We have 11 confirmed volunteers of the MHLA Community Council, including representatives from QueensCare Health Centers, Asian Pacific Health Care Venture, San Fernando Community Health Center and Saban Community Clinic. It’s not too late to share our recruitment materials in English and Spanish with individuals who may want to be part of the council. We would still love to have participation from CPs with large numbers of MHLA participants so we can get participants’ input on the program, communications and experience. We will invite the participants to the first meeting in mid-March.

Due to decreasing demand for COVID-19 testing following the Omicron surge, LA County Department of Health Services is scaling back to pre-surge hours and days and will be closing some sites in coming weeks. We also will continue urging community members to seek out tests from their healthcare providers. Finally, we are reviewing the County testing website and know some of your clinic locations are currently listed on the site. Please let us know if your test site is still active for community members, and if so, if there any changes to location or testing hours. Please email Covid19Testing@dhs.lacounty.gov with updates.

The Care Harbor event, which provides free medical, dental and vision services to those in need, is happening March 4-6 in Los Angeles. MHLA and LA County Department of Health Services will be on site to provide information about staying safe from COVID, signing up for coverage and returning to care. We will see some of you there as we work together to help uninsured and underinsured residents obtain medical services and connect to ongoing care.

Thank you for everything! — Anna Gorman
