Q: What should I do if an MHLA participant is diagnosed with HIV?

A: A patient enrolled in MHLA who is diagnosed with HIV should be disenrolled from MHLA and should be enrolled in the Ryan White Program.

Q: How can a patient be enrolled in the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program?

A: You can find Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program providers and information for enrollment at https://findhivcare.hrsa.gov/.

Q: Does MHLA cover HIV medication?

A: No.  People with HIV should be referred to a Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program provider.

Q: Does MHLA cover PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis) and PEP (post-exposure prophylaxis)?

A: Yes. Please see the MHLA formulary.  Patient assistance program application required for PrEP.  Prior Authorization required for PEP.
