Many L.A. County residents have in some way felt the effects of recent increases to the cost of living. Despite the price increases to everyday expenditures like gas, housing, or food, the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority has committed to offering steep discounts for their services through December 2022.
A variety of regular passes (the 1-Day, 7-Day and 30-Day namely) have been discounted by 50%:
- Day pass: $3.50
- Weekly pass: $12.50
- Monthly pass: $50
In addition, Metro offers further discounts for eligible low-income riders who participate in the Low-Income Fare is Easy (LIFE) regional transportation assistance program. Those interested in the LIFE program can find information on eligibility, fare discounts, and where to apply on the Metro LIFE website. On top of the discounts, new LIFE enrollees may receive additional benefits such as free 90-day passes and access to partner transit lines.
