Quality Improvement and Patient Safety
Welcome to the Quality Improvement and Patient Safety (QIPS) website, where you will find a wealth of information about the Department of Health Services’ focus on quality and patient safety in an easy-to-use format.
QIPS is a unit in the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services (LACDHS) that manages quality and patient safety programs. Our team of clinical experts provides an essential role by monitoring quality and improving our high standard of medical care.
Patient safety is not just a goal in LACDHS, it’s an organizational culture that caregivers across our clinical spectrum embrace. We work together with our hospitals and clinics to identify quality and safety best practices, then expand them across our delivery system in a dynamic process. Doing so, we continually raise the bar in quality of care and patient safety in our health facilities.
We created this site to help you be a more informed health care consumer by sharing quality data about our system that we report to other agencies. With that information, you can make better choices about your health care options.
On the menu to the left, you can find out how LACDHS hospitals compare to other public and private hospitals in California and nationwide, and link to additional quality of care websites for more information. We invite you to visit this site frequently for updated information.
