As a Health Services patient, you have options to get to your doctor\u2019s office. If you don\u2019t have your own private car and public transportation doesn\u2019t work for you, visit our\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dhs.lacounty.gov\/our-services\/resources\/transportation\/\">Transportation page<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Preparing for your Appointment &amp; Admission<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Our teams look forward to maximizing their time with you to address your health concerns. Therefore, we offer these tips for your protection and security of your medical information:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Arrive a few minutes early. Bring a photo ID or be prepared to verify your information.<\/li>\n<li>Bring a list of all the medications you\u2019re currently taking, including over-the-counter medications such as aspirin, ibuprofen, vitamins, and herbal supplements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you need to reschedule your appointment, please call at least 72 hours (3 days) in advance to cancel. \u00a0Click <a href=\"https:\/\/dhs.lacounty.gov\/patient-information\/get-coverage\/appointments\/\">here<\/a> to contact the Appointment Center.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Unscheduled Visits<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you need to visit our facility for an unscheduled visit, such as to the Emergency Room or Urgent Care &#8211; please bring some form of photo identification, if possible.<\/p>\n<p>Click here for a list of our <a href=\"https:\/\/dhs.lacounty.gov\/our-services\/emergency-services\/\">Emergency Room<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/dhs.lacounty.gov\/our-services\/urgent-care-services\/\">Urgent Care<\/a> locations.\u00a0 If you are experiencing a medical emergency, please call 9-1-1.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Childcare Center<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The CARES Childcare Center offers free child care services for children ages 0 to 11 years for patients\u2019 children or patient\u2019s families children. The center is open Monday through Friday during the day and it provides complete infant and toddler care, age appropriate hands-on activities, nutritious meals and snacks and psychological support. A visitor\u2019s pass and additional documentation are required upon registration. Please contact the center at (323) 409-6940 for additional information and details.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Patient Confidentiality<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Privacy and confidentiality of our patients\u2019 medical information is of paramount importance. Upon admission, you will be given a copy of our Notice of Privacy Practices, which describes how we handle your personal information. You may request additional measures of confidentiality. If you prefer that your name not be released to people who ask for you by name, you may ask us to delete your name from the hospital directory by informing your nurse or doctor.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Patient Meals<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The hospital\u2019s nutrition department is dedicated to serving you healthy and delicious meals. A Nutrition Services representative is available upon request to discuss your food preferences or nutrition concerns during your hospital stay. If you wish to receive food from home, ask your doctor to write a medical order. Visitors must notify your nurse when bringing food from home to ensure that is appropriate for your hospital dietary needs.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Social Work Services<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Our Clinical Social Workers are available to help you with the various social and emotional problems that may occur as a result of your hospital stay. They can provide crisis intervention, counseling, education, advocacy and information on community resources. They can also help you cope with grief and loss.
