Clerical Duties:  Filing, typing, answering phones and errand services are provided to various offices and clinic areas throughout the Medical Center.

Patient Visitor Volunteer:  Patients are visited throughout their hospital stay by visiting volunteers who also assist with hospital unit orientation, listening to patients’ concerns and requests by reporting patient needs to nursing staff ensuring patients’ full comfort.

Greeters / Wayfinder Program:  An information desk to provide the patients, visitors with guided information about the various locations in the Medical Center.

Resource Cart Volunteer:  Hygiene items, reading material, slippers, undergarments,socks, beauty hair products and recreational comfort items are delivered to the bedside of the patient by volunteers.

Clinic Department Volunteers:  Office duties, computer data entry and other clerical duties are provided in the outpatient clinics to support nursing and medical staff in various clinic departments. Specialized clinics include but are not limited to Cardiology, Ob/Gyn,Ophthalmology, Pediatrics, Non-Emergency Psychology, Medical Surgery, Radiology, Urology,Social Work, etc.

Holiday Celebration for Hospitalized Patients provides donated holiday gifts to allin-house patients. Approximately 600 patients receive gifts.

Holiday Celebration for Hospitalized Patients’ Families is a unique holiday program. Through their social worker, a patient with children may request gifts, food and clothing for their children.

Book and Magazine Service:  Donated reading material is made available for all patient areas, as well as clinics waiting areas.

Music Program: The power of music to heal, inspire, and soothe our patients and hardworking healthcare workers is immeasurable. We recruit skilled amateur and professional musicians to play in our Clinic and In-patient lobbies, Chemotherapy Infusion Unit, Emergency Department waiting room and in-patient wards. The Medical Center Music Program is supported in partnership with LA General CARES, the Medical Center’s 501(c)(3) which supports patient care.

*Department of Emergency Medicine (DEM) Volunteer:  Volunteer opportunities in our Department of Emergency Medicine assisting the staff with ancillary services, patient transport within the DEM, and more. This volunteer service is reserved to college students/college graduates pursuing a career in the medical field.
