LA Health Services is committed to tackling some of our most complex societal challenges in new ways. Just as we strive to make healthcare more accessible, we also work hard to ensure that we meet our patients where they are. Recently, our Housing for Health program made the news with their successful overtures to help house residents in the Skid Row area of Los Angeles.
The Skid Row Action Plan was initiated by Supervisor Hilda Solis, whose district includes Skid Row. The project has already moved nearly 1,000 persons experiencing homelessness into permanent housing and nearly 2,000 people into interim housing. It’s a collaborative effort that has benefited from input by Skid Row residents, service providers and other stakeholders.
The story was recently featured in the LA Times and features interviews with one of the many individuals who is benefiting from the program and is now housed: Thousands are housed as L.A. County makes progress on Skid Row – Los Angeles Times (latimes.com)
