Dr. Aries Limbaga joins staff at the Armenian History Month Celebration
For the Armenian History Month commemoration, Rancho Los Amigos’ Cultural Diversity Operations Council prominently placed multiple poster exhibits throughout the campus in April. Founded in 782 BCE, Armenia is one of the oldest countries in the world and known for its rich diaspora of cultures. Armenia is considered a Holy Land by several cultures and communities. The highest concentrations of Americans of Armenian ancestry are in Los Angeles, New York and Boston. The exhibits feature information and facts on Armenia and Armenian accomplishments, as well as noteworthy Armenians. One noteworthy Armenian-American is Raymond Vahan Damadian, the physician, medical practitioner and inventor of the first MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) Scanning Machine, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Imaging (NMRI) and Magnetic Resonance Tomography (MRT). Another notable Armenian-American is Luther George Simjian, who was an inventor and entrepreneur that held over 200 patents, including for inventions of the flight simulator, the first ATM, bandages and improvements to the Medical Ultrasound device and teleprompter.
Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center also recognized the Armenian heritage and accomplishments with cultural displays, resources, Armenian music and food at the Don Knabe Plaza on April 13, 2022.
