img_size=&#8221;full&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221; css=&#8221;&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<div class=\"fusion-fullwidth fullwidth-box fusion-builder-row-4 fusion-flex-container nonhundred-percent-fullwidth non-hundred-percent-height-scrolling\">\n<div class=\"fusion-builder-row fusion-row fusion-flex-align-items-flex-start\">\n<div class=\"fusion-layout-column fusion_builder_column fusion-builder-column-4 fusion_builder_column_1_1 1_1 fusion-flex-column\">\n<div class=\"fusion-column-wrapper fusion-flex-justify-content-flex-start fusion-content-layout-column\">\n<div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-2\">\n<p><strong>Overview<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The goal of the scholarship is to bring fourth-year medical students from diverse backgrounds to Harbor-UCLA for a 3-week sub-internship in one of five clinical divisions: trauma, colorectal, SICU, cardiothoracic surgery and surgical oncology.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>All students will be matched with faculty and resident mentors who share similar clinical interests.<\/li>\n<li>All students are expected to meet with their resident and faculty mentors during their three-week sub-internship.<\/li>\n<li>The choice of subspecialty elective will be made based on the applicant\u2019s preference and availability of that elective.<\/li>\n<li>Students will be awarded a $2000 stipend to assist with travel and housing costs; check will be given upon completion of sub-internship.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There will be a total of 6 scholarships offered per academic year.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fusion-column-wrapper-salman\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fusion-fullwidth fullwidth-box fusion-builder-row-5 fusion-flex-container nonhundred-percent-fullwidth non-hundred-percent-height-scrolling\">\n<div class=\"fusion-builder-row fusion-row fusion-flex-align-items-flex-start\">\n<div class=\"fusion-layout-column fusion_builder_column fusion-builder-column-5 fusion_builder_column_1_1 1_1 fusion-flex-column\">\n<div class=\"fusion-column-wrapper fusion-flex-justify-content-flex-start fusion-content-layout-column\">\n<div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-3\">\n<p><strong>Scholarship Criteria<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Student must be in good academic standing<\/li>\n<li>Student must be enrolled in their fourth or final year M.D. or D.O. degree program during their elective rotation at Harbor-UCLA \u2013 (i.e., current 3rd year medical students (rising 4th year students))<\/li>\n<li>Student must be attending a school accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education or Education Department of the American Osteopathic Association<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Preference will be given to students attending medical schools outside of Los Angeles area.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fusion-column-wrapper-salman\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fusion-fullwidth fullwidth-box fusion-builder-row-6 fusion-flex-container nonhundred-percent-fullwidth non-hundred-percent-height-scrolling\">\n<div class=\"fusion-builder-row fusion-row fusion-flex-align-items-flex-start\">\n<div class=\"fusion-layout-column fusion_builder_column fusion-builder-column-6 fusion_builder_column_1_1 1_1 fusion-flex-column\">\n<div class=\"fusion-column-wrapper fusion-flex-justify-content-flex-start fusion-content-layout-column\">\n<div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-4\">\n<p><strong>Application Timeframe<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>2026 application submissions will be accepted from March 1, 2026 through May 1, 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Award winners will be notified of decisions by May 15, 2026.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<strong>Application Instructions<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Complete the Visiting Student Learning Opportunities (VSLO) application through the David Geffen School of Medicine; must designate a preferred sub-internship at Harbor UCLA<br \/>\n(<a href=\"https:\/\/medschool.ucla.edu\/education\/md-education\/visiting-students\/vslo\">https:\/\/medschool.ucla.edu\/education\/md-education\/visiting-students\/vslo<\/a>). Scholarship applications will not be considered if there is not a completed VSLO application.
