Specialty Care Services

Specialty Care refers to higher-level medical services that require a referral from your primary care provider, for example, cardiology or oncology.

Physicians that provide specialty care undergo extensive training to “specialize” in a given area of medicine during their graduate medical education. They work closely with the patient’s Primary Care provider to ensure care is coordinated. Specialty services can be offered in a hospital or outpatient setting. Your DHS Primary Care provider will manage all of your care, including specialty referrals.

If you are a current DHS patient, talk to your Primary Care provider about all of your care needs. Your provider coordinates referrals to DHS specialty services.

If you are not a DHS patient and do not have health care coverage, please call the number to make an appointment on the facility page to receive more information about accessing services.

Please note that financial screening is required prior to seeing a doctor or making an appointment. Our staff will help verify your coverage or determined payment options available to you.
