About Us

The Edward R. Roybal Comprehensive Health Center was built in December 1979 to provide community-based primary and specialty care in East Los Angeles.  It was named after Edward R. Roybal, a long-time public servant who represented the 9th district on the Los Angeles City Council and also served in the United States House of Representatives.

The Health Center stands out in the neighborhood for its bright stripes of multiple-colored tiles lining the sides of the building, giving it its Spanish nickname, “La Clínica de Colores.”

Roybal specialty clinics provide clinical training for medical students, residents, and fellows, in addition to serving as the venue for the direct-patient care service provided by attending physicians from LAC+USC Medical Center and the Keck School of Medicine of USC.
